Tess was born and raised in New Orleans. She grew up eating seafood on Friday
nights with her Family at local restaurants. It was their tradition to eat at popular West End lakefront restaurants.

In the mid 1970's, Tess and her family opened a Disco named Opus 111. Tess also started working with her brother and sister in their Deli, Smokey Mary's. From 1974 through 1987, Tess and her brother and sister ran a booth at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. As Disco's day came and went, Tess met her husband Gene at Mardi Gras. They soon opened a Festival business.

Gene and Tess lived briefly in Pennsylvania, but moved back to New Orleans in 1982. This is when Gene developed his exceptional bartending skills. In 1987, Tess and Gene moved to California and continued to work in the festival business. After growing tired of being on the road for 14 years, Tess and Gene decided to put down roots and have a permanent restaraunt location.

In March 2001, Gene and Tess Ostopowicz (their initials as the name of the restaurant) opened GTO's Seafood House. Please come experience GTO's hospitality and enjoy delicious meals prepared by Chef John Kirchman.
